On Thursday, September 2nd, two forums will be held to hear candidates running in the September 14 primary election for County Council – one, sponsored by our neighbors in Randolph Hills, will feature District 1 candidates (Garrett Park is in District 1); the other, sponsored by a number of municipalities (including Garrett Park) and citizen groups, will cover at-large Council candidates. Here is the information on each:
District One candidates: At 7:30pm please join us for the final District One Council debate before the primaries on September 14th. This important event will showcase the two Democratic primary candidates, Roger Berliner and Ilaya Hopkins, and allow residents to make an informed decision at the polls. The event will take place at the Viers Mill Recreation Center at the corner of Beach Drive and Garrett Park Road (4425 Garrett Park Road, Silver Spring, MD 20906), a very short distance from Garrett Park. [Cross the tracks at Penn Place, take the path to Schuylkill and Garrett Park Road; walk about 100 yds. to the Rec Center.] The event is being sponsored by the Randolph Civic Association, the Citizens League of Montgomery County, and is open to everyone. At this critical time in our County, it is more important than ever to make an informed decision at the polls. Some of the topics are sure to be the County budget, schools, economic vitality and the White Flint Sector plan.
