Public Records Information

The Town maintains various official and public documents, both in the Town Office and in the Town Archives. The Maryland State Public Information Act (PIA) governs disclosure of Town documents and records. http://www.oag.state.md.us/Opengov/Appendix_C.pdf. The Town has consistently followed the standards of the PIA even though the Town had not promulgated formal regulations. The Town has now developed regulations to implement the PIA. The regulations basically track the format suggested by the Maryland Attorney General’s Office http://www.oag.state.md.us/Opengov/Appendix_D.pdf. You can view the Town regulations here.  The regulations have been provisionally implemented pending the procedure set out below. Note especially that from now on certain requests for inspection of public records must be in writing.
