Commentary on Town Finances

February Financial Report including FY11 Budget as adopted

The FY 2012 Budget was unanimously adopted by the Town Council at its April 11 meeting,; it goes into effect on July 1.   The Council also voted to institute a Town property tax credit/rebate program that will utilize the same eligibility criteria as the property tax credit program of the State of Maryland and Montgomery County.  See http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/content/home/pdf/propertytax_web.pdf  The amount of the added Town of Garrett Park rebate will equal the increase in property tax voted by the Council in connection with adoption of the FY12 budget – 1.8 cents per $100 of assessed valuation (up to the limit established by the state and county programs).  Details of the Town program will be considered by the Council at its next regular meeting on May 9, 2011.
